How to customize the WordPress login page – and secure it

Short answer: replace the WordPress logo and colours with your brand, and at the same time limit login attempts, move the login address and – for private sites – require login for every page.

Why change the login page

  • Clients, staff or members see your brand instead of WordPress.
  • It looks professional on membership, portal and client sites.
  • The default /wp-login.php address is attacked by bots every day.

Design

  • Your logo and the link to your home page.
  • Background colour or image, button colours, rounded or square fields.
  • A short welcome text.

Questions

If I change the login address, can I lock myself out?

Note the new address before saving – GITECHY Login shows it clearly. If you ever lose it, switching the plugin off from your hosting panel brings back the normal login page.
